When exposed to cyclic wet/dry conditions, the steel develops a stable oxide layer that significantly slows further corrosion compared to conventional structural steels. While offering lower mechanical properties than premium weathering grades, Q235NH maintains excellent processing characteristics including good cold forming properties and standard weldability without requiring special techniques. Its balanced performance makes it particularly suitable for mass-produced outdoor structures where both economy and moderate weather resistance are key considerations.
