SA662GrB steel plate is a carbon-manganese-silicon steel plate for medium and low-temperature pressure vessels. It is suitable for welded pressure vessels that have high requirements for low-temperature notch toughness, and belongs to one type of American standard pressure vessel steel plates.

Excellent Mechanical Properties

SA662GrB hot-rolled plate exhibits outstanding mechanical properties. Its minimum yield strength is 622 MPa, which demonstrates excellent pressure resistance, enabling it to maintain a stable structure when subjected to high pressure. The tensile strength ranges from 450 to 585 MPa, indicating that the steel plate has good stability during stretching and is not prone to fracture. In terms of elongation, when the gauge length is 200 mm, the elongation shall be ≥20%; when the gauge length is 50 mm, the elongation shall be ≥23%. These indicators fully reflect the excellent plasticity and ductility of SA662GrB pressure vessel plate, allowing it to better adapt to various forming requirements during processing.

Good Low-Temperature Impact Toughness

The impact test temperature of SA662GrB is 20°C, which means the steel plate can still maintain excellent impact toughness in low-temperature environments. In the application scenarios of medium and low-temperature pressure vessels, low-temperature environments may have an adverse impact on the performance of materials. However, relying on its good low-temperature impact toughness, SA662GrB steel plate can ensure the safe and reliable operation of pressure vessels under low-temperature conditions.

Material Selection Considerations

When used in environments with temperatures ranging from -30°C to -45°C, normalized condition should be preferred.

Manufacturers are required to provide performance data of simulated post-weld heat treatment (PWHT).

Anti-Corrosion Tips

In humid environments, the application of anti-corrosion coatings is recommended.

Welded joints must undergo anti-corrosion enhancement treatment.

Alternative Solutions

For lower-temperature working conditions (-70°C), SA662 Gr.C pressure vessel plate can be selected.

For higher strength requirements, SA737 Gr.B can be selected.
