GNEE Steel amorphous core type distribution transformer

The cores of conventional transformers consist of stacks of laminations that are made from silicon steel with an almost uniform crystalline structure (CRGO). In transformers with amorphous cores, a ribbon of steel is wound to form the core. The big benefit of amorphous transformers is that amorphous steel has lower hysteresis losses. Simply put this means that less energy is wasted as heat during magnetisation and de-magnetisation of the core (see IR imagery below).

 

Amorphous Alloy Transformer is a power transformer with low loss and high energy efficiency. This kind of transformer uses iron based amorphous metal as the core. Because this material does not have a long range ordered structure, its magnetization and demagnetization are easier than ordinary magnetic materials.

The amorphous alloy with outstanding magnetic conductivity can be used as the core material of transformer, and the loss value can be very low finally. However, it has many characteristics that must be guaranteed and considered in design and manufacturing. The main body reflects the following aspects:

(1) The hardness of amorphous alloy sheet material is very high, and it is difficult to shear with conventional tools, so the amount of shear should be reduced in design.

(2) The thickness of amorphous alloy is very thin, and the material surface is not very flat, so the filling coefficient of iron core is low.

(3) Amorphous alloys are very sensitive to mechanical stress. In structural design, the traditional design scheme of taking iron core as the main load-bearing structure must be avoided.

(4) In order to obtain excellent low loss characteristics, amorphous alloy iron chips must be annealed.

(5) From the electrical performance. In order to reduce the shearing amount of iron chips, the iron core of the whole product is composed of four separate iron core frames in parallel, and each phase winding is sleeved on two independent frames of the magnetic circuit.
