7. Wyckoff Exchange Designed by Andre Kikoski Architects

Andre Kikoski Architects designed a weathering steel facade for the Wyckoff Exchange, a live music and performance venue in Brooklyn's Bushwick district, New York.
The building's exterior features a very original design, relying on electric door technology adapted from aircraft hangars and factory buildings. Five pairs of movable facade panels create a constantly changing functional structure and architectural form. During the day, the panels fold up to act as canopies for shops, providing shade for pedestrians; at night, they act as protective doors for shops, while gradient laser perforations on semi-concealed LED lights make the facade appear to glow from within-creating an urban-scale work of art.
8. Designed by Miller Design, the Anderson Pavilion

The Anderson Pavilion is an open-air summer pavilion that closes during the winter. It features a floating wood-burning fireplace and a stainless steel hot tub to combat the winter chill. The ground floor houses a spacious two-car garage, while the second floor is a tree-level sanctuary away from the city's hustle and bustle. It's a modern building combining weathering steel, brick, and redwood in the old, welcoming neighborhood of Modesto, California.
9. The 360 14th Street Building, designed by Minervini Vandermark Architects

This building, designed and constructed by a young and emerging architecture firm, serves as their design studio, and this four-story hybrid structure greatly contributes to the revitalization of the city's industrial neighborhood. The final design incorporates prominent elements from the surrounding community. The upper two floors contain three residential units, all clad in weathering steel, a robust and simple industrial material commonly used in pre-war viaduct structures. The weathering steel has been weathered and rusted. The "pencil" columns supporting the residential building mimic the structural elements of the viaduct. Besides reflecting the surrounding environment, the interlaced columns also evoke the concept of weightlessness. If gravity were disregarded and the building were not connected to the ground, it might fly away.
