ASTM A387 Grade 22 Class 1

ASTM A387 Gr 22L CL 1 is a chromium molybdenum alloy steel plate intended primarily for welded boiler and pressure vessels designed of elevated temperature service. The Cr content 2.25 % and the Mo content 1.00 %.

Each grade except grade 21L, Grade 22L, Grade 91 and Grade 911 is available in two classes of tensile strength levels. Grade 91 and Grade 911 are available only as Class 2.ASTM A387 grade 22 class 1 is ASTM A387 grade 22 steel in the annealed condition.

ASTM A387 Grade 22 Class 1 is a chromium-molybdenum (Cr-Mo) alloy steel plate for high-temperature, high-pressure applications like boilers and pressure vessels, featuring about 2.25% Chromium and 1% Molybdenum, with Class 1 indicating a lower tensile strength range (around 75-100 ksi or 515-690 MPa) compared to Class 2, offering good weldability and creep resistance for critical industrial uses.

1 What is ASTM A387 grade 22 class 1  material?

Chrome Molybdenum Steel

Chrome Molybdenum Steel – ASTM A387 Grade 22 Class 1. The A387 Grade 22 Class 1– a grade of chromium-molybdenum alloy – is mainly intended for use in pressure vessels and welded boilers, which are designed for use in elevated temperature service.

2 What is ASTM A387 Grade 22 Class 1 equivalent to?

ASTM A387 Grade 22 Class 1 is equivalent to ASME SA387 Grade 22 Class 1 (often just SA387 Gr 22 Cl 1) and corresponds to European standards like EN 10 CRMO 910, while British Standard (BS) equivalent is BS 622-515B, all referring to a 2.25% Chromium-1% Molybdenum alloy steel for high-temperature pressure vessels, with Class 1 indicating lower tensile strength than Class 2

3What is the P number of ASTM A387?

The ASME SA-387/ ASTM A387 Gr. 11 steel has the nominal composition of 1.25Cr-0.5Mo-Si with UNS designation number of K11789 .

4What are common testing requirements for ASTM A387 grade 22 class 1 ?

For ASTM A387 Grade 22 Class 1, common testing involves chemical analysis (C, Mn, P, S, Si, Cr, Mo) and mechanical testing (tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, reduction of area) to ensure it meets specifications for pressure vessels, with mandatory heat treatment (normalizing) and optional impact testing at specified low temperatures. Key mechanical requirements include 60-85 ksi tensile strength, 30 ksi min yield strength, and 18% min elongation (in 2 inches).

5What temperature is ASTM A387 grade 22 class 1 ?

ASTM A387 Grade 22 Class 1 is a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel for elevated temperature service, commonly used in pressure vessels and boilers, and maintains high strength up to around 600°C (1112°F), with its minimum tempering temperature typically set at 1250°F (675°C) for proper heat treatment, but its operational range extends across ~316°C to 593°C (600°F to 1100°F) in high-temp applications,
