FAQ

Q: Do Corten Steel planters get too hot?
A: Steel planters have the ability to conduct heat and may feel warm to the touch after being exposed to the sun. While the temperature of the soil near the edges of the planter may rise on warm days, you shouldn't need to worry about your plants drying up as long as you water them properly.

Q: What plants don't like terracotta pots?
A: Terracotta is great for succulents, and other plants you WANT to dry out more. It isn't so good for tropicals, or other plants that actually like more moisture.

Q: What is the disadvantage of metal planters?

A: One slight disadvantage to picking metal as your material of choice is that these planters can get searingly hot when left out in the glaring sun, burning your plants, drying out the soil, and increasing the chance of root damage

Q: Will galvanized steel planters rust?

A: Galvanized Mild Steel provides good rust resistance but requires some maintenance. Issues such as bare mild steel usage, inadequate protective coatings, and unaddressed damage can lead to rust. If the paint is not suited for outdoor conditions, painted planters may additionally peel.

Q: Does Corten steel leach into soil?
A: Corten Steel planters are also safer than ones made of plastic or wood because they won't leach harmful chemicals into the soil over time.

Q: Can you plant directly into metal planters?
A: Having said that, it's always a good idea to insulate the inside of your Corten planters with a thin layer of bubble wrap or foam, as this will prevent your plants from coming into direct contact with the metal, which may overheat when left in direct sunlight on hot days for long periods of time.
