The 12Cr2Mo1VR steel plate is a special alloy steel plate for medium and low temperature pressure vessels. It has high strength, corrosion resistance and high-temperature performance, and is widely used in petrochemical, nuclear power, thermal power and other fields.
I. Basic Information

Meaning of the grade: Carbon (C) 0.11-0.15%, Chromium (Cr) 2.00-2.50%, Molybdenum (Mo) 0.90-1.10%, Vanadium (V) 0.25-0.35%, and the contents of other elements such as silicon (Si) and manganese (Mn) are strictly controlled within the specified ranges.
Executive standard: GB/T 713.2-2023
II. Chemical Composition
| Element | Category | Content Range | Function/Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon (C) | Main Alloying Element | 0.11-0.15% | Matrix element, enhances overall hardness |
| Chromium (Cr) | Main Alloying Element | 2.00-2.50% | Core strengthening element, improves corrosion resistance |
| Molybdenum (Mo) | Main Alloying Element | 0.90-1.10% | Core strengthening element, improves high-temperature strength |
| Vanadium (V) | Main Alloying Element | 0.25-0.35% | Alloying element, contributes to strengthening |
| Sulfur (S) | Impurity | ≤0.005% | Strictly controlled to ensure steel purity |
| Phosphorus (P) | Impurity | ≤0.010% | Strictly controlled to ensure steel purity |
III. Mechanical Properties
Strength: Yield strength ≥415MPa; tensile strength 590-760MPa.
Toughness: Impact absorption energy ≥60J (-20℃); passes the cold bending test (d=3a).
Hardness: Moderate hardness after normalizing + tempering treatment, facilitating processing.
IV. Performance Characteristics
High-Temperature Performance: Can maintain strength and stability in high-temperature environments of 450~600℃.
Corrosion Resistance: Chromium (Cr) and molybdenum (Mo) effectively resist corrosion, making it suitable for corrosive environments such as chemical industry and nuclear energy.
Weldability: Post-weld heat treatment is required to eliminate stress, but the overall weldability is good.
V. Application Fields
Core Fields: High-temperature and high-pressure equipment such as petrochemical, nuclear power, thermal power, power stations, boilers, nuclear reactor pressure vessels, and liquefied petroleum gas tanks.
Special Scenarios: Hydrogen service equipment (e.g., reactors, heat exchangers) must have hydrogen corrosion resistance.
VI. Manufacturing Processes
Smelting: Smelted in an oxygen converter or electric furnace, with ladle refining and vacuum treatment of the molten steel.
Heat Treatment: Normalizing + tempering (tempering temperature ≥680℃); accelerated cooling is allowed for thickness ≥50mm.
VII. Quality Requirements
Non-Destructive Testing: First, second, and third inspections are required, complying with the Level I ultrasonic testing standards of NB/T47013.3-2015.
Thickness Performance: Z-direction elongation ≥15%, meeting the requirements for the thickness direction of pressure vessels.
