What is S890ql1 Steel Plate ?

What is S890ql1 Steel Plate ?

S890QL1 is a high-strength, fine-grained structural steel (EN 10025-6) that is quenched and tempered, known for its exceptional yield strength of 890 MPa and good toughness, even at low temperatures (down to -60°C). It's used for heavy-duty applications like construction, vehicles, and mining equipment where load-bearing capacity and durability are crucial, offering good weldability and formability despite its strength.

S890ql1

S890QL1 is a fluid-tempered high strength weldable fine grained steel with a min. yield point of 890 N/mm². It is applicated for high loaded steel constructions, vehicles, lifting, mining equipment. The usual thickness range amounts 3 to 100 mm. The lowest application temperature accounts for -60°C. The steel is processed by cold forming, at temperatures below the highest permissible stress relieving temperature of 530 to 580 °C. After hot forming at 700 to 1050°C has to be coducted a retempering in order to achieve delivery condition qualities. The steel is combustible and electric arc cuttable subject to appropriate mode of operation. Flame cutting is affected by the surface condition. For product thicknesses above 30 mm is advisable a preheating to 100 to 200 °C in order to assure cold crack resistance. Preheating to 100 to 200 °C is advisable for workpiece temperatures below 5 °C and if the thermal cut edges should be cold formed on processing. Instructions: The steel is suitability tested for the construction of pressure vessels and pressure pipes.

Key Characteristics

S890: Indicates a minimum yield strength of 890 MPa.

Q: Means it's delivered in a quenched and tempered (QT) condition.

1What is s890ql1 material ?

S890QL1 is a European standard (EN 10025-6) extra-high-strength structural steel known for its minimum yield strength of 890 MPa, achieved through quenching and tempering (Q&T) for high toughness, even at low temperatures (-40°C), making it ideal for lean, strong designs in heavy machinery, construction, and offshore structures where weight saving and durability are crucial.

2What is s890ql 1equivalent material?

S890QL is a high-strength, quenched & tempered structural steel (EN 10025-6 standard) with a minimum yield strength of 890 MPa, and its equivalents include SSAB's Strenx 900 T, Dillinger's DILLIMAX 890 T, and specific brand names like XABO 890 or WELDOX 900, often identified by material number 1.8983, offering similar high toughness and strength for demanding applications like cranes, platforms, and heavy machinery.

3What is the difference between s890ql1and s890ql ?

The main difference is the impact toughness requirement at low temperatures: S890QLrequires toughness at -50°C (L), while S890QL1 requires higher toughness at -60°C (L1), making S890QL1 suitable for even colder environments, both being high-strength, quenched & tempered structural steels under EN 10025-6, with '890' denoting 890 MPa yield strength.

4What is the density of s890ql1?

The density of S890QL1, a high-strength structural steel, is generally around 7.85 g/cm³ (or 7850 kg/m³), consistent with most alloy steels, though slight variations can occur due to specific alloying elements, with typical steel densities falling between 7.8 to 8.0 g/cm³.

5What is the composition of s890ql1?

S890QL1 is a high-strength, quenched, and tempered structural steel (EN 10025-6) with a typical composition including maximums for Carbon (≤0.20%), Silicon (≤0.80%), Manganese (≤1.70%), Phosphorus (≤0.020%), Sulfur (≤0.010%), with added alloying elements like Niobium (Nb), Vanadium (V), and Titanium (Ti) for grain refinement, ensuring excellent strength (min. 890 MPa yield) and weldability for heavy-duty applications.
