Weathering steel, also known as atmospheric corrosion resistant steel. It is a lower alloy steel, between ordinary steel and stainless steel. Weathering steel is ordinary carbon steel with small amounts of corrosion-resistant elements (such as copper and nickel).
It has the strength, toughness and plasticity of high quality steel, with extension, forming, welding and cutting, wear resistance, high temperature resistance, fatigue resistance and other characteristics. Weather resistance is 2-8 times higher than ordinary carbon steel, and coating performance is 1.5~10 times higher than ordinary carbon steel. It has the characteristics of rust prevention, corrosion resistance, long life of parts, thinning and energy saving.
Weather-resistant steel plate is mainly used for steel structures in atmospheric environments such as railways, automobiles, bridges, high towers, photovoltaic and high-speed engineering. It is used for manufacturing containers with corrosive medium of hydrogen sulphide, such as containers, railway vehicles, derricks, port buildings, oil production platforms and vessels.
