On July 21, the hot strip rolling plant of GNEE successfully rolled a 2190mm ultra-wide hot-rolled plate, marking another self-breakthrough for GNEE Steel. This product can meet the demands of large-diameter longitudinal welded pipeline projects, signifying a leap forward in GNEE Group's high-end steel manufacturing capability.
Traditionally, the width of plates produced by hot strip rolling mills is usually concentrated in the range of 1500–2000mm, while the 2190mm width has already approached the design limit of the equipment. Since the beginning of this year, GNEE Group has closely tracked market dynamics, deeply integrated customer needs, and made every effort to provide targeted R&D and application solutions. Following the successful rolling of 2175mm and 2180mm hot-rolled plates in May and June respectively, the hot strip rolling plant has further tapped into its innovative potential, carrying out a "millimeter-level" technical breakthrough.
During the rolling of the 2190mm ultra-wide hot-rolled plate, the plant precisely calculated models, adjusted rolling processes, and correctly selected roll profiles. As a result, the plate shape, coil form, and performance uniformity all reached the top level in the industry, and mass production capability has now been achieved.
It is understood that ultra-wide hot-rolled plates with widths of 2180–2190mm can directly replace part of medium-thick plates, reducing the number of welded joints in new energy equipment by more than 30%, significantly enhancing structural strength and production efficiency.
