Weathering Steel Is A Kind Of Steel With Special Weather Resistance Properties

Raw material preparation: The main components of weathering steel are iron, carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus and other elements, and also contain a small amount of copper, chromium, nickel and other alloying elements. The selection and preparation of raw materials is the first step in the production process. Usually high-quality molten steel is used as the main raw material, and appropriate alloying elements are added according to specific formula requirements.

Steelmaking: Raw materials are smelted and refined through the steelmaking process. The method of steelmaking can be converter steelmaking, electric arc furnace steelmaking or other suitable methods. During the steelmaking process, parameters such as furnace temperature, redox environment, and alloying element additions are controlled to ensure that the resulting molten steel meets the composition requirements of weathering steel.

Process cooling: After steelmaking, the molten steel undergoes a continuous casting process to solidify and shape. During the continuous casting process, through appropriate cooling measures, the steel billet is gradually cooled and shaped, and a uniform organizational structure is maintained.

Hot rolling: The cooled steel billet is heated and plastically deformed, usually using a hot rolling process. During the hot rolling process, the steel billet undergoes continuous rolling passes and gradually deforms into the required plate shape and size. The control parameters during the hot rolling process include rolling temperature, rolling force and rolling speed.

Pickling: There is usually a layer of iron oxide and oxide scale attached to the surface of the hot-rolled steel plate. In order to remove these oxides and scales, an pickling process is usually used. Pickling can use acidic solutions such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid to immerse the steel plate in the acid solution to obtain a clean surface.

Cold rolling and annealing: The pickled steel plate can undergo further plastic deformation through the cold rolling process to obtain a more detailed structure and better flatness. Subsequently, the steel plate may need to be annealed to adjust and stabilize the structural structure of the steel plate through heating and cooling.

Weathering treatment: The special properties of weathering steel mainly come from the weathering layer formed on its surface. At the final stage of the production process, the steel panels undergo a special weathering treatment. Usually under controlled humidity and temperature conditions, a dense oxide layer is gradually formed on the surface of the steel plate by exposure to the natural atmosphere. This oxide layer has good weather resistance and corrosion resistance, providing long-term protection for the steel plate.

Inspection and packaging: After the production process, the weathering steel plates need to be inspected for quality. Inspection includes visual inspection, mechanical property testing, chemical composition analysis, etc. to ensure that the steel plate meets relevant standards and requirements
