What is China Classification Society?
China Classification Society ("CCS" for short) is a professional technical institution/organization authorized by relevant Chinese laws and registered by law to engage in ship classification services and statutory services.
China Classification Society is mainly responsible for classification services, certification inspections, notarization inspections of domestic and foreign ships, offshore facilities, containers and related industrial products, as well as specific services such as statutory services authorized by the Chinese government and foreign (regional) government authorities. and other businesses approved by the relevant competent authorities.
China Classification Society was formerly known as the Ship Inspection Bureau of the People's Republic of China. It was established in 1956 and is a unit affiliated to the central government. In 1986, China Classification Society was established with the approval of the State Council, and implemented "one organization, two brands" with the Ship Inspection Bureau. In May 1988, it joined the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) and became its official member. In 1992, in accordance with the requirements of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) quality certification system, the China Classification Society quality management system was established and obtained the quality system compliance certificate issued by the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS).
