SA-516M Boiler Steel Sheet

SA-516M is one of the standards established by ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), which is used to regulate the material and performance requirements of steel plates, especially for the manufacture of pressure vessels.

The SA-516M standard is a variant of the SA-516 standard, where the "M" stands for "Metric," which uses metric units to establish material and performance requirements. The requirements and specifications of the SA-516M standard and the SA-516 standard are basically the same, but they differ in the unit system and numerical representation.

The SA-516M standard stipulates the chemical composition, mechanical properties, impact toughness, heat treatment requirements, etc. of steel plates to ensure the safety and reliability of manufactured pressure vessels in high temperature and high pressure environments. It covers multiple steel plate grades, such as SA-516M Grade 60, SA-516M Grade 65 and SA-516M Grade 70, etc. The selection of specific grades depends on the application requirements and design specifications.

The SA-516M standard requires steel plates to have specific element content in chemical composition, such as carbon, sulfur, phosphorus, silicon, manganese, etc. At the same time, it also stipulates the mechanical performance requirements of steel plates, including tensile strength, yield strength and elongation. In addition, steel plates also need to undergo impact testing to evaluate their toughness capabilities under low temperature conditions.

In engineering applications, SA-516M standard steel plates are usually used to manufacture various types of pressure vessels, such as storage tanks, reactors and separators, to withstand pressure in high-temperature and high-pressure environments.
