SA537C11, SA537CI2, SA537CI3 steel plate ordering requirements
1. Vacuum treatment;
2. Additional or special tensile test;
3. Impact test;
4. Nondestructive testing (flaw detection)
SA537C11, SA537CI2, SA537CI3 steel plate steelmaking method steel should be killed steel.
SA537C11, SA537CI2, SA537CI3 steel plate heat treatment All steel plates should be heat treated as follows
Grade 1 steel plates should be normalized.
Grade 2 and 3 steel plates should be quenched and tempered. The tempering temperature of grade 2 steel plates should not be lower than 595℃, and the heat preservation should be more than 0.5h.
The tempering temperature of grade 3 steel plates should not be lower than 620℃, and the heat preservation should be more than 0.5h.

5. Selection Guide

Class 1:

Use for low-cost, general-purpose vessels (ambient to -30°C).

Advantages: Simple heat treatment (normalizing), economical.

Class 2:

Use for medium-high pressure or -45°C environments (e.g., chemical reactors).

Advantages: Balanced strength-toughness ratio.

Class 3:

Use for critical high-pressure or cryogenic systems (e.g., LNG tanks, -60°C).

Advantages: Exceptional low-temp toughness, but higher cost.


6. Key Considerations

Weldability: Class 2/3 require strict welding procedures (preheat, post-weld heat treatment).

Standard Units: Confirm SA537M (metric) or SA537 (imperial) based on project requirements.

Alternatives: For higher performance, consider SA516 Gr.70 or SA533 Type B.
