1. Select the type of welding rod
When welding low alloy steel plates, the following electrodes are often used:
1. Alkaline welding rod: suitable for welding low carbon and low alloy steel plates. It has high strength and good plastic toughness, but is prone to hydrogen cracks.
2. Active gas shielded welding rod: used under argon or CO2 gas protection, suitable for welding low-hardenability low-alloy steel plates, with good weld quality and hydrogen cracking resistance.
3. Perovskite welding rod: Perovskite composite oxide is the main coating, suitable for welding low-carbon, low-alloy structural steel and high-strength steel plates, and has high low-temperature resistance and toughness.
2. Characteristics of welding rods
1. Characteristics of alkaline welding rods: the slag is easy to peel off and is suitable for external and internal welding; it has deep slag properties and can weld thicker steel plates, but it is prone to hydrogen cracks and hot cracks.
2. Characteristics of active gas shielded welding rods: easy to automate welding, beautiful appearance, and fast welding speed; but require high-purity gas protection and are generally used for butt welding.
3. Characteristics of perovskite welding rods: the slag has good fluidity and beautiful shape; the welding quality is relatively stable and can weld devices working under low-temperature impact loads and low-temperature equipment such as cryogenic containers.
